Dr Katie O’Neill, originally from the Washington, DC area, has been
researching into the background of the Northern Ireland conflict for
many years. She has a BS from the University of Maryland and recently
completed a PhD at Queen’s University, Belfast, writing a pioneering
thesis based on extensive interviews with former combatants from all
four major parties concerned: republicans, loyalists, police and army,
a unique project in that it included all four points of view. Katie
served on the Washington DC Mayor’s anti-crime task force and worked
for many years as a contractor at the Environmental Protection Agency
in Washington, DC, and has also worked as a freelance journalist. She
has joined ARTIS to work on conflict resolution.
